John McCain Diagnosed With Brain Cancer

The Arizona senator and former Republican presidential candidate John McCain has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer. Last week, McCain had to miss the crucial healthcare Senate vote to have surgery to remove a blood clot about his left eye. After doctors recommended him to stay home for at least two weeks, the vote had to be pushed back. Now, with McCain's diagnosis, the future of the revised bill remains uncertain.

McCain, 80-years old, has had the brain tumor surgically removed. According to reports, the brain tumor was "aggressive" and posed a serious threat to McCain's health. While the brain tumor has been removed, McCain will still be undergoing treatment as McCain's office stated, "The senator and his family are reviewing further treatment options with his Mayo Clinic care team. Treatment options may include a combination of chemotherapy and radiation. The senator’s doctors say he is recovering from his surgery ‘amazingly well’ and his underlying health is excellent.” So while McCain may still be undergoing treatment, there seems to be a high possibility that McCain will make his return into the senate in which the Republicans are highly hoping for. McCain holds a crucial position in the decision of Obamacare as Republicans hold a narrow lead over the Democrats in the Senate. With Trump wanting to replace or repeal Obamacare, McCain's return may have a significant factor of what the decision may come to be.

Senator McCain has gotten a wide amount of support. Many politicians, both Republican and Democrat, have rallied behind Sen. McCain. Current President Donald Trump has said, "Senator John McCain has always been a fighter. Melania and I send our thoughts and prayers to Senator McCain, Cindy, and their entire family. Get well soon.” Former President Barack Obama tweeted out to McCain: "Give it hell", and called McCain an "American hero". Other Former President Bill Clinton also tweeted out support, saying "Don't be against John". Rep. Lindsey Graham said there "is no one better" to fight cancer than Senator McCain. As Democrats and Republicans rally together to support McCain, one cannot help but sigh in relief as both parties took a break from their arguments to worry about McCain's health. McCain, a distinguished war hero, will now be battling his health problems as he tries to make a speedy recovery.
